Free image enhancer + upscaler · No signup · Works on every browser
Sharpen and upscale an image, free.
Improve quality at the same size, or upscale 2x or 4x. Denoise, lanczos resampling, and smart sharpening — bundled into one click.
Not AI — three classical image-processing passes that, together, make most images visibly better. Works in every browser because the work happens on our server, not your GPU. Free because there is nothing to charge for.

Often used together
All free, browser-only, no signup required.
Resize for a specific platform
After upscaling, resize precisely to Instagram, TikTok, or LinkedIn dimensions — no awkward crops.
📉Compress to fit upload limits
4x upscale produces big PNGs. Compress to a manageable file size before uploading anywhere.
🎨Use the upscaled image in a design
Drop the sharpened image straight into the post designer as a background. Add headline + logo on top.
What this is good for
A YouTube thumbnail you grabbed and now want to use somewhere else but it looks rough. A phone photo with visible noise. An old JPEG that's been re-shared so many times it's gone soft. A screenshot you need to enlarge for a slide deck. A stock image you need at a bigger size without it going blurry.
Most of those problems aren't about resolution — they're about JPEG compression noise and soft edges. This tool targets both, then optionally upscales on top.
What each pass actually does
- Denoise (median filter)— looks at each pixel and replaces it with the median of its neighbours. Wipes out the “blocky” compression noise that makes a JPEG look cheap. Optional toggle — turn off for graphics with hard edges or text, since median can soften those.
- Lanczos resampling — when you pick 2x or 4x, the image is enlarged using the lanczos3 kernel. This is the algorithm professional image editors use for upscales. Much sharper than browser default (bicubic) and miles better than nearest-neighbour.
- Unsharp mask sharpening — amplifies real edges the model can detect, without exaggerating noise. Strength scales with the upscale factor since lanczos softens edges slightly as it interpolates.
Honest comparison to AI upscalers
Real-ESRGAN and similar AI models can inventplausible detail — they'll add texture to a face, sharpen text that was illegible, recover edges the source genuinely lost. For extremely low-resolution input where you need the AI to make educated guesses about missing detail, AI wins.
For everything else — a JPEG that's “a bit soft”, a screenshot you want larger, a photo with compression noise — the deterministic path here often produces an indistinguishable or better result. AI upscalers also sometimes add fake-looking detail (over-smooth skin, plastic textures) which the lanczos+sharpen approach won't.
If you specifically want AI, the open-source Upscayl desktop app is free and excellent.
What else is here
After enhancing, you might want to resize for a specific platform (Instagram square, story, etc.), compress the file size for upload limits, or use the enhanced image as a background in a social post design. All same free / no-signup model.
Poster Poster is a calendar-driven social media scheduler for working musicians and small businesses — connect your calendar once, your accounts once, your design once, and the posts just go out. The tools are a free utility; the full app is the bigger thing we're building.
